New European “Chips Act” will build on Europe's strengths and address outstanding weaknesses.

The European Commission has unveiled a semiconductor development bill. The "European Chips Act" aims to quadruple semiconductor production capacity in the EU by 2030. Its ultimate goal is for the EU to reach at least 20% of the global production value for cutting-edge and sustainable semiconductors.

The Act are expected to bring about a thriving semiconductor sector from research to production and a resilient supply chain. It will mobilize more than €43 billion euros of public and private investments and set measures to prevent, prepare, anticipate and swiftly respond to any future supply chains disruption, together with European Member States and overseas international partners.
